current lens — the whole signal in focus
Light is energy, shaped and guided by the optical lens. Music is energy, focused and ordered by the Æ current lens.
Integrate the Æ current lens into your reference system and the effect is immediate: the entire presentation locks into place. Edges no longer fray, images hold their shape, space opens up, and timing feels intentional and precise. It’s called a lens for a reason—nothing is added or exaggerated; what already exists in the music comes into focus.
LISTEN. OBSERVE. STUDY
As an integral part of Æ’s CRS (Conductivity and Resonance Study) program, the current lens is the result of countless hours of purposeful listening sessions, combined with deep exploration of magnetic, conductive, and dielectric materials—and the many interactions between them. It represents the distillation of years of trial and error: designs conceived, tested, and often abandoned. Only the most musically convincing prototypes are carried forward, then hand-crafted one by one in limited batches. Nothing is digitally corrected. Nothing is added or subtracted. Instead, the current lens simply reveals what was always present but obscured: texture, tonal density, spatial depth, and the raw, potent energy of music. The effect is akin to a rare portrait lens in photography. Ordinary optics may capture a likeness, but a truly exceptional lens renders the subject vividly alive, revealing subtle tonal gradations and micro-contrast that transform perception.
Æ TECHNOLOGY
Drawing on the savoir-faire first publicly introduced in Æ’s flagship LUCET triode amplifier, the internals of the hardwood and-brass enclosure nest a spatially organized arrangement of varying composition conductors and amorphous cobalt-based alloy elements. Incoming alternating current (AC) is split into multiple smaller conductive branches, which are suspended on a stack of insulators and soldered in specific geometric patterns providing desired interaction between the elements and forming the AC transmission line. The most critical connections are sealed in glass at temperatures exceeding 600 °C, ensuring complete airtightness—and with it, long term electromechanical stability. At the same time, electrical resistance at the junctions between dissimilar conductive materials is significantly reduced, resulting in greatly improved thermal distortion behavior, which is essential for an unrestrained, fluid musical presentation.
CRAFTED WITH INTENTION
Each current lens is carefully assembled and finished by hand to satisfy both touch and eye. Chamfered edges cut at varying angles meet gently arched ridges, airflow openings screened with fine brass mesh—every detail invites close, unhurried attention. Each element serves a particular purpose managing resonance, arranging the geometry of the internals, guiding airflow, and ensuring thermal stability. While the exterior remains deliberately restrained, each wooden enclosure houses more than seventy individual mechanical and electromagnetic components. Fifty-nine of these contribute directly to sonic performance.
